What is the Qualified Voter File (QVF) ?

The Qualified Voter File (QVF) is a distributed database which ties Michigan’s 1520 cities and townships to a statewide voter registration file maintained in Lansing. The QVF contains over 8.2 million voter registration records.

Who manages the Qualified Voter File ?

City and township clerks have direct access to their local QVF data via Michigan’s QVF system. Some jurisdictions coordinate voter registration activity with their county clerk’s office

Why is the Qualified Voter File (QVF) Important ?

Voter integrity is essential to our democratic process. The validation process determines whether or not someone is "lawfully" registered to vote in our state.  An Unvalidated voter, is when a registered voter is in the system, but they are unable to physically cast a vote.  Examples include; a deceased voter, or a voter that was registered before they were born.  Unvalidated voters in the QVF database opens up the opportunity for manipulation and voter fraud .
